The original drawing communicated the component's basic shape, but it was not yet ready to control quotation, manufacture and inspection. Following investigation and technical liaison with the customer, the design intent was converted into a clearer engineering definition.

A strong product housing has to do more than look tidy in CAD. It must be mouldable, support the PCB correctly, allow connector access and assemble cleanly. This kind of review shows the value of combining DFM and electronics-integration thinking in one service.

Initial service scope: replacement work is limited to applications where component failure would not create a safety, lifting, pressure, braking, medical, electrical-protection or other regulated hazard.

From Failed Part to Replacement

This example shows the engineering workflow behind a replacement component. The service is not simply an uploaded file being printed: the failed part is assessed, its functional interfaces are reconstructed in CAD, and a replacement is manufactured for fit-checking and agreed service conditions.

The original bracket has fractured at the junction between an arm and a mounting boss. Before copying the shape, the application, loading, operating environment and consequence of failure would be reviewed to confirm that replication is appropriate.

•Record mounting-hole positions and mating interfaces
•Identify the fracture location and likely stress concentration
•Confirm the part is non-safety-critical and suitable for the service

Stage 02

Reverse-Engineered CAD

The usable geometry is rebuilt around the functional interfaces rather than traced visually. Hole centres, thicknesses, rib geometry and mating surfaces are controlled so the digital model can be inspected, revised and reproduced.

•Review weak transitions before approving any reinforcement

A white 3D-printed component demonstrates the physical replacement stage. The first article can be used to verify fit, hole alignment and assembly access before the agreed material and manufacturing route are released.
